Julio César Chávez y Roberto Durán, dos leyendas del boxeo latinoamericano, tuvieron un cruce de palabras que encendió el debate en diferentes partes.
Aunque el enfrasque no fue directo, sí se dio por medio de mensajes de video y entrevistas.
Todo empezó por la próxima pelea que sostendrán Julio César Chávez Jr. y Saúl Canelo Álvarez, algo que para Mano de Piedra Durán es un error por parte del primero, y sobre todo de Chávez padre por dejarlo realizar ese combate.
"No sabe de boxeo, estoy hablando del padre, con el respeto que te mereces, no veo cómo tu hijo le puede ganar a Canelo", afirmó el panameño en una entrevista a ESPN.
"Si tu hijo le gana a Canelo... entonces le digo a Canelo: 'retírate, porque estás acabado", fueron las palabras del panameño Mano de Piedra.
La reacción de Chávez padre no se hizo esperar y calificó de incoherente la opinión del panameño.
"Respeto su punto de vista, pero creo que son incoherencias. La verdad, no se le entiende muy bien lo que dice", fue lo que respondió el mexicano, reportaron varios medios mexicanos.
Incluso Chávez fue más allá y recordó que en su momento tenía programado realizar una exhibición con Durán y que la misma no se concretó porque el panameño no quiso hacer una prueba antidopaje.
"La Comisión de Nevada quiso que nos hiciéramos el antidoping pero Roberto Durán no quiso", declaró Chávez a Sports Center de ESPN.
Chávez Jr. se enfrentará a su compatriota Canelo Álvarez el próximo 6 de mayo en Las Vegas, Estados Unidos.
